Container Garden Soil Recipe -
Outdoor Container Recipe 
 

This is the recipe for an all purpose soil for an outdoor container.

EQUAL PARTS
-Top Soil

-Peat Moss

-Perlite

Note: Before filling any container be sure you cover the drainage hole. We recommend a coffee filter.  This will prevent your soil from leaking out of the pot. 

• Next, fill the container leaving about 2" from the top.

• Add slow release fertilizer to the surface as directed on the label 
• Starting in the center of your container add plants working out.  
• Place plants close together and when you are finished press firmly. 
• Water the plants thoroughly. 

Containers can dry out quickly, so you may need to water often in the summer. To lessen the need, mulch your containers or add water-absorbing polymers to the soil mix. Use a  drip emitter system with a timer to make things even easier. Check your containers regularly to see if soil is getting to adequate amount of water.
